Bees Circling
I originally made this piece for a group show at the Harrison Center last spring. It has since inspired a new body of work tentatively called Natural Paths featuring bees, birds, and other wild life, and the paths they take (still in progress).

Halloween Fell on a Friday Night
Graphite and digital coloring.
The house in the background is located just a couple of blocks from my house in Irvington. It is old and spooky and falling down. And I love it.

An Uncomfortable Situation

Gouache and graphite.
Some instinct had me put the owl hibernating underground. I’m not really sure why. Later a friend asked me if I was aware that ancient people didn’t know about migration, and assumed birds spent the winter underground. I didn’t know this, but I find it fascinating. I plan to make a body of work exploring this soon.

A Sleuth of Bears

Watercolor and graphite.
A group of bears is called a Sleuth. These bears are solving a mystery. Can you make up a story about what might have happened?
Piece done for my solo show “A Tower of Giraffes: A Menagerie of Collective Nouns.”

A Murder of Crows

Watercolor and graphite.
A group of crows is called a Murder. Sounds pretty freaky to me. These crow cops are investigating the scene, however I think they are more interested in the donuts.
